A Year of Online Classes Amid COVID-19 Pandemic: Advantages, Problems, and Suggestions of Economics Students at a Bangladeshi Public University

Abstract: Though there have been works highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of online learning, no study focused on university-level economics students. None studies explored students' opinions about improving quality effectiveness classes. Many used questionable samples, closed-ended questions, all those researches were carried out at beginning In this paper, we overcome these limitations earlier studies. Using a convenience sampling technique open-ended collect data from 154 students after being exposed to class for year. Some classes are: can do home without health risks, easily accessible, flexible schedule, remained connected with study, it saves costs, reduce likelihood semester loss, easy understand, less stressful, learning new technologies. Major problems perspectives include network problems, difficulties in understanding topic, unsuitable mathematical courses, concentration problem, not interactive, financial constraint, adverse impacts, device issues, power outages, unfamiliarity digital technology, internet unfixed class-schedule. Disadvantages outnumbered advantages. Students made several suggestions improve vital using state-of-the-art tools, recording uploading lectures, resolving holding regularly, higher efforts make topics easier, lowering duration, institutional support, implementing fixed introducing evaluation system.
